Mohawk, Stuyvesant, Livingston and Eastman Towers are staples of the University at Albany Uptown Campus. With their spectacular views, they are always at the top of the list for freshmen and sophomores who are gunning for the best spot to live in in the coming year.

While the luxurious nature of these towers is already so well known on campus, many still don’t understand the plethora of benefits that come with living so far above the rest of your fellow Great Danes.
Well, lucky for you, I’m here. Having lived on the 15th floor of Stuyvesant Tower my sophomore year, I can give you the low-down on why your next home should be in a tower.
Elevator Fun
The elevators in the quad towers are definitely not terrifying, and they most certainly do not add an extra 10-15 minutes to your walk to class. It is so much fun to get into those dimly lit boxes of joy right after waiting an abnormally long amount of time for them to show up. It feels like an amusement park every day when you are able to take a ride in our campus’ elite and tech-savvy elevators that add an extra bit of excitement to the trip every time you hear sounds and feel movements that seem vaguely threatening.
Roaches Galore
You think that just because you’re higher up off the ground that the roaches won’t find you? Well, you’re wrong. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming. They are coming.
Five-Star Laundry Machines
The only thing more exclusive than securing a spot in a room in a UAlbany tower is securing a machine to wash your laundry in the tower laundry room. And the only thing more exclusive than that is securing one that works! If you are one of the lucky few who find a functioning washer/dryer, kudos to you my friend. However, if you are not so lucky, then the tower gods will order you to be thrown out of The Penthouse; don’t worry though, it is rarely unlocked anyways, so the chances of this happening are slim (but not zero).
God Complex
Living stories above your peers will give you the god complex you desperately need to be your best self as a college student. You can easily imagine the people living like peasants in the low-rise dorms. Understanding that you are better than everyone else and that nobody could ever understand your woefully intelligent and wise mind is imperative to having a top-notch experience as a tower resident.
The View

I hope that this has given you some insight into just how special our towers here at UAlbany are. Maybe if you’re lucky, you can be one of the special few who get to experience all of what I have listed above. It is a feeling that can only be described as a blessing, one that I will certainly always cherish.
