Let’s be real, college can be very messy. There’s always something going on, whether that be homework, study dates, classes or club events. This means a lot of things can fall through the cracks. If you’re ready to be an academic weapon this year, here are some tips to start the semester off right.

Organization Websites:

Online organizational tools are easy to edit and input everything you need to keep track of. Unlike physical planners, these sites are great for sharing and allow multiple people to work on a single project in real time. You can also set electronic reminders for any tasks and events.

Notion: Notion is a software that provides a collaborative workspace. Here you can brainstorm and make plans for any upcoming project. The calendar function sets up all events and reminders in one place, creating a color-coded schedule. Time management has never been easier. Notion offers four different plans: Free, Plus, Business, and Enterprise, to suit whatever organization purposes you need.

TimeTree: This is a great way to input all upcoming events in one place. It can also be shared with others, allowing them to input their events on the same schedule. With TimeTree you can customize each event with a variety of colors, location tags, notes, and more!

Google Calendar: Here you can stay on top of all appointments, tasks, and events. You can even sync your calendar with other computer sites such as Microsoft Outlook.

Todoist: A simple, straight-forward software to keep track of tasks. Todoist has three plans: Beginner (free), Pro ($4/month), and Business ($6/month).

Dorm Essentials:

Setting yourself up for success begins with setting up your room. No matter what style room you have, keeping that space organized and efficient can make the year that much easier. It’s important to prevent your area from feeling cramped and messy for better focus. Having a clean environment can help improve productivity to start the year off strong.

Desk Shelves: Sometimes there is simply not enough space for everything at your desk. With shelves, you can utilize that vertical space and keep everything you need at your fingertips. Certain designs offer separate cubbies for even more organization. Here are two examples and where to get them!

Desk Organizers: This is a tried and true method of organizing. This way you can store loose paper and documents securely in one place without the mess.

Pencil Holders: A great way to keep your pencils in order, that is not the only thing that these are useful for. These are great for keeping all of your pens, markers, and even scissors in one easy-to-grab spot.

Drawer Organizers: There’s nothing worse than trying to find something in your desk drawers and sifting around to no end. Drawer organizers can help you be neater and make your supplies more accessible.

Collapsible Closet Hangers: These handy things can maximize your closet space and store clothes vertically on hangers. Each article of clothing remains easily accessible and organized. You no longer have to compromise your extensive wardrobe for the sake of space. It’s the best of both worlds.

Regardless of what your schedule looks like, take the time to organize yourself for a great semester. After all, exam season is difficult enough without adding a messy desk to the mix. With these tips and tricks, you are sure to have a strong and confident beginning. Good luck Great Danes!
