The university has discontinued the Patroon Creek shuttle bus line and expanded the number and frequency of routes during the weekdays, due to the Student Health Center moving to Dutch Quad.
These new changes have added more frequent bus times between 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m to the Uptown route, extended shuttle hours until 10:55 p.m., created a new bus stop on Indian Quad, and added a weekday on-demand service between 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.
“They [Residential Life] sat down with us, told us improvements they believe UAlbany
students could benefit from,” director of Parking and Mass Transit Services Jason Jones says. “More frequent shuttles and new shuttle stops.”
With Health Services’ return to campus, there is no longer a need for the Patroon Creek bus line, freeing up staff and allowing more routes to be added.
Along with the addition of more frequent bus times, there has also been a change in when the shopping shuttle operates.
The shuttle to Crossgates Commons now operates on Thursdays from 4:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., a change from previous operation which occurred on Mondays. New stops at Crossgates Mall and all university apartments have also been added.
Many students utilize the shuttle bus system on campus and are getting used to the changes.
“The new shuttle schedule is honestly better,” says Senior Natalie Johnson. “In the morning from
8 a.m. to 11 a.m., I realized the shuttle runs every five minutes which is good for me because if I miss the bus for class, I could get on the bus that comes five minutes after that.”
