On Oct. 29, Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour Concert Special was released on Netflix. Fans who couldn’t get a ticket to one of the hottest shows around can finally get a feel for what the GUTS concert was like, and people who did go to the show get to relive the magic.

First things first, we’ve got to start off with critiques. While watching the film, it was hard to find much that I didn’t like. However, at the end of the GUTS World Tour, Olivia gives fans a behind-the-scenes look into how she prepares for each show. My problem is, I believe this section of the film should have gone in the beginning before the concert started. It’s very easy to miss this part of the film because the credits start to roll after the last song. Because I know Olivia likes to hide easter eggs in her music, I thought there would be some behind-the scenes footage. This footage also gets confusing because it shows her after the number “get him back!” but then shows how she got ready before the show starts.

The behind-the-scenes footage also plays “Stranger” way too loud. I would have loved to hear more of the actual footage, but it felt like “Stranger” was just thrown in there randomly.

Something else that caught me by surprise was how “Get Him Back” was the last number of the show. I think ending with “All-American B----” or “Deja Vu” would have been more powerful. I really thought that “Deja Vu" was the closing of the show until the other two songs came along. I still enjoyed “Get Him Back” and how they elongated the ending but I just think there were better songs to end the show.

As I was watching the film, I quickly realized that the camera kept switching to a new angle every five seconds. While this could have been a creative choice to showcase how the GUTS album shows the dizzying effects of growing up, I wish they kept the camera still for some of the sadder songs on the album. It takes viewers out of the moment.

One thing I loved about the film was how Olivia purposely made viewers at home feel included by making gestures at the camera. I could feel the electric energy of the concert radiating from my screen. Fans will be able to tell that Olivia was having the time of her life on that stage. Seeing the fan reactions in the crowd felt priceless.

Everyone who is a fan of Olivia’s music should definitely check out this film. Grab some popcorn, get your friends together and rock out to Olivia Rodrigo’s GUTS World Tour Concert Special only on Netflix.
