This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:
Field Hockey celebrated 11 members of their squad (seven Seniors and four Graduate Students) during their Senior Day game against Colgate.

Tuesday, Oct. 22:
Men’s soccer beat Colgate 3-1 during their Mental Health Awareness game. The team recorded a total of 19 shots, with eight shots on goal. Timo Jansen, Ander Castillo and Elias Ehlin all recorded one goal each for the Great Danes. Jansen and Mohamed Soumah recorded one assist. Castillo led the team with eight shots, with three shots at goal. Goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki recorded one save. The Great Danes improved their record to 4-10-1.
Friday, Oct. 25:
#14 ranked field hockey beat Maine 2-1 in Orono, Maine. The team finished the game with 18 shots, with 13 shots on goal. Eva Jenniskens and Blanca Orsola recorded one goal each. Charlotte Triggs and Floor de Ruiter each recorded one assist. Alison Smisdom led the team with five shots, with all five shots at goal. Goalkeeper Lara Behn recorded three saves. The Great Danes’ record improved to 13-3 overall and remained a perfect 5-0 in conference play.
Note: With Friday’s win, Field Hockey has secured their spot in the America East conference playoffs and secured the rights to host the conference tournament at home.
Volleyball lost to Binghamton 3-0. The team recorded a total of 33 kills, four aces and three blocks. Shynelle Woroniuk led the team with 16 kills. Elisavet Papageorgiou led the team with eight kills. Kendall Harris and Tori Wilson recorded six kills. Brooke Malek led the team with 12 defensive digs. The Great Danes fell to a record of 8-12, and fell to 2-4 in conference play.
Saturday, Oct. 26:
Football lost to conference rival Delaware 28-14 in Newark, Delaware. Quarterback Myles Burkett threw 14/28 for 208 yards. He also threw one touchdown pass and one interception. Seven McGee led the team with three catches for 77 yards. Caden Burti caught the lone passing touchdown for the Great Danes. Jojo Uga recorded one rushing touchdown. Faysal Aden led the running game with 57 total yards on 10 carries. Dontae Lunan led the team with 10 total tackles that included three solo tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 3-5 and stand at 1-3 in conference play.
Men’s soccer lost to New Hampshire 5-1 on their Senior Day celebration game. The team recorded a total of nine shots, with two shots on goal. Zach Lind recorded the lone goal for the Great Danes and recorded two shots with one shot toward the goal. Ander Castillo led the team with three shots and recorded one assist. Ivar Orri Gissurarson recorded one assist. Goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki recorded one save. The Great Danes record now stands at 4-11-1, and have a record of 1-4-0 in conference play.
Sunday, Oct. 27:
#14 ranked field hockey beat Colgate 8-0 during their Senior Day celebration game. The team finished the game with 23 shots, with 14 shots on goal. Four seniors out of 11 members that were celebrated scored a goal. Floor de Ruiter led the team with two goals and two assists. Blanca Orsola also scored two goals. Isabella Del Vecchio and Alison Smisdom recorded one goal each. Smisdom and Lauren Willis recorded one assist each. Two other players scored one goal each. Goalkeeper Lara Behn recorded three saves. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 14 - 3 overall.
Volleyball beat UMBC 3-2. The team recorded a total of 46 kills, 8 aces and nine blocks. Elisavet Papageorgiou led the team with 14 kills. Kendall Harris recorded eight kills, while Tori Wilson and Dora Filipovic recorded seven kills. Kiki Provatas led the team with nine defensive digs. Maria Olga Siapani and Brooke Malek recorded seven defensive digs each. The Great Danes record now stands at 9-12 overall, and have a record of 3-4 in conference play.
