This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:

Thursday, Oct. 31:
Women’s soccer lost to Binghamton 4-0 during their Halloween Spooktacular game, which was also their final game of the season. The team recorded a total of 11 shots, with two shots on goal. Sydney Kofton led the team with three shots and one shot at goal. Mariella Fulcher, Sydney Waits and Ava Incorvaia all recorded two shots each. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded five saves. The Great Danes finished the season with a record of 3-12-1, and 2-5-1 in conference play.
Friday, Nov. 1:
#14 ranked field hockey beat Vermont 3-1 in their final game of the season. The team finished the game with 18 shots, with 13 shots on goal. Alison Smisdon, Makenna Lowe and Tessa Overgoor all recorded one goal each. Floor de Ruiter recorded one assist. Alison Smisdom and Charlotte Triggs led the team with two shots each with one shot at goal. Goalkeeper Lara Behn recorded two saves. The Great Danes finished the regular season with a record of 15-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.
Field hockey will kick off their America East Conference Championship campaign Friday at home.
Men’s soccer tied Binghamton 1-1 in Vestal, New York. The team recorded a total of 13 shots, with six shots on goal. Ander Castillo recorded the lone goal for the Great Danes and recorded two shots with one shot toward the goal. Zach Lind led the team with five shots. Timo Jansen recorded one assist. Goalkeeper Parker Kump recorded three saves. The Great Danes record now stands at 4-11-2, and have a record of 1-4-1 in conference play.
Volleyball lost to New Hampshire 3-0 in Durham, New Hampshire. The team recorded a total of 35 kills, two aces and six blocks. Shynelle Woroniuk led the team with 10 kills. Elisavet Papageorgiou recorded eight kills. Kasia Barletta led the team with nine defensive digs. Three other players recorded seven defensive digs each and three players recorded six digs each. The Great Danes fell to a record of 9-13, and fell to 3-5 in conference play.
Saturday Nov. 2:
Football lost to New Hampshire 31-14 during their Breast Cancer Awareness game. Quarterback Myles Burkett threw 7/13 for 47 yards and threw one interception. Quarterback Trey Lindsay threw 11/23 for 117 yards and threw one touchdown pass. Lindsay also rushed for one touchdown. MarQeese Dietz led the team with six catches for 49 yards. Caden Burti caught the lone passing touchdown for the Great Danes. Jojo Uga led the running game with 33 total yards on six carries. Faysal Aden recorded one touchdown catch, which came from Lindsay. Aden also recorded 16 total yards on eight carries. Jack Iuliano and Paris Smiley led the team with six tackles each. Luliano also led the team with two tackles for a loss. Three other defenders each recorded one tackle for loss. Cam Stodghill and Dasean Dixon led the team with 1.0 sack each. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 3-6 and stand at 1-4 in conference play.
Cross country competed at the America East Championships in St Albans, Vermont. For the men, they competed in a 8k race whereas the women competed in a 5k race.
For the women, Skyler Smith led the women’s cross country team with a 15th place finish and Katie Iocca finished right behind Smith in 16th place. Tess Fitzmaurice rounded out the Great Danes top 20 finishes, placing 20th. Alondra Cruz-Delgado and Sophia Bisognano rounded out the UAlbany scorers placing 31st and 33rd respectively. For the men, Jed Elmbarki led the team with a top 20 finish, placing 17th. Chris Bertola and Jared Rogalski rounded out the UAlbany scorers placing 26th and 32nd respectively.
The women’s team finished fifth with 115 points, and the men’s team finished seventh with 160 points. Both results came out of a pool of nine teams. Both teams will continue their postseason as they are set to compete at the NCAA Regionals in New Hampshire.
