This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:


Byron Joshua watching teammate Kacper Klaczek (#6) shooting a free-throw attempt on Thursday against UMass Lowell. Klaczek scored 12 in the overtime win.

Wednesday, February 12:


Women’s lacrosse lost to Holy Cross 21-9 during their home opener. The Great Danes took 24 shots and recorded 25 turnovers. Courtney Rowe led the team with three goals. Mikaela Mooney recorded two goals. Dylana Williams led the team with one assist. Goalkeeper Grace Cincebox recorded five saves. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 0-2.


Thursday, February 13:


Men’s basketball beat UMass Lowell in overtime 90-88 in Lowell, Massachusetts. The team shot 49.3% from the field on 35-71 shooting, going 8-18 from 3-point arc and went 12-20 on free-throw attempts. Byron Joshua led the team with 19 points. DeMarr Langford Jr. and Kehni Briggs both finished the game with 13 points, and Kacper Klaczek finished the game with 12 points. Langford Jr. led the team with five assists. The Great Danes’ improved their record to 13-13 and improved to 5-6 in conference play.


Women’s basketball beat UMass Lowell 59-44 during their Commitment to Education game. The team shot 37.7 percent from the field on 20-54 shooting, going 3-17 from the 3-point arc and 16-22 on free throw attempts. Kayla Cooper led the team with 19 points. Lilly Phillips finished the game with 17 points. Cooper led the team with four assists. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 20-5, with a record of 10-2 in conference play.


Friday, February 14:


Men’s lacrosse lost to Colgate 19-14 during their season opener. The Great Danes took 43 shots and recorded 19 turnovers. Ryan Doherty and Amos Whitcomb both led the team with five goals each. Silas Richmond led the team with seven assists. Goalkeeper Landon Whitney recorded seven saves and Brady Smith recorded four saves. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 0-1.


Saturday, February 15:


Women’s lacrosse lost to Harvard 18-6 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Great Danes took 13 shots, with 12 shots on goal, and recorded 15 turnovers. Dylana Williams led the team with three goals. Three other Great Danes each scored one goal each. Williams and Emma Torkoff both led the team with one assist each. Goalkeeper Grace Cincebox recorded two saves and Quinn McCarthy recorded six saves. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 0-3.
