This past week saw the following results for University at Albany sports:
The women’s field hockey team celebrating after Sunday’s win and recorded their first conference win of the season. The Great Danes are on a six-game winning streak.

Tuesday, Sept. 17:
Men’s soccer lost to Lafayette 2-1 in Easton, Pennsylvania. The team recorded a total of seven shots, with four shots on goal. Timo Jansen scored the lone goal for the Great Danes, while Ander Castillo recorded an assist. Goalkeeper Daniel Shannon recorded one save. The Great Danes record now stands at 2-5-1.
Wednesday, Sept. 18:
Women’s soccer lost 2-0 to Siena. The team took 12 shots and only three shots on goal. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded eight saves. Dorfman is currently ranked No. 2 in the NCAA rankings for saves per game. She averages 8.75 saves per game and has 70 saves on the season so far. The Great Danes fell to a record of 1-7.
Friday, Sept. 20:
Volleyball attended the UniWyo Invite in Laramie, Wyoming, this weekend. The Great Danes fell to Utah in a 3-1 match. The team recorded a total of 43 kills, three aces and four blocks. Shynelle Woroniuk and Elisavet Papageorgiou led the team with 12 kills each. Brooke Malek led the team with 15 defensive digs. Two other team members recorded over 10 defensive digs.
Volleyball fell to Wyoming 3-0 during the first day of the UniWyo Invite. The team recorded a total of 34 kills, three aces and five blocks. Shynelle Woroniuk led the team with nine kills. Tori Wilson recorded eight kills and Anna Myhal recorded seven kills. Brooke Malek led the team with eight defensive digs. The Great Danes fell to a record of 3-8.
Saturday, Sept. 21:
Volleyball beat Coppin State in a tight 3-0 match in their final match of the UniWyo Invite. The team recorded a total of 44 kills, two aces and five blocks. Anna Myhal led the team with 17 kills. Shynelle Woroniuk recorded 10. Maria Olga Siapani led the team with 14 defensive digs. Two other team members also recorded over 10 defensive digs. Volleyball’s record now stands at 4-8.
Sunday, Sept. 22:
Women’s soccer tied UMBC 0-0 in their first conference game of the season. The team took five shots, with no shots at goal. Five different players recorded one shot each. Goalkeeper Emily Dorfman recorded eight saves. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 1-7-1, and have a record of 0-0-1 in conference play.
#17 ranked field hockey beat UC Davis 2-0 in their first conference game of the season. The team finished the game with 21 shots, with 15 shots on goal. Alison Smisdom and Charlotte Triggs both scored one goal. Smisdom and Floor de Ruiter both recorded one assist. Goalkeeper Lara Behn recorded one save. The Great Danes’ record now stands at 6-1 overall, and improved to 1-0 in America East Conference play.
