The Great Danes started the game on the attack, getting in the attacking zone and nearly getting on the board in the second minute as a free kick from 30 yards out went past the Colgate net.

UAlbany continued to put pressure on Colgate goalkeeper Oliver Townend, having three shots within the first 10 minutes, however, the Raider defense held strong. Sophomore forward Zach Lind nearly converted a cross from Mohammed Soumah, however his header sailed over the crossbar.

The Raiders began to put pressure on the UAlbany defense midway through the first half but couldn’t sustain long attacks in the UAlbany zone.

Colgate got on the board first in the 29th minute, as sophomore Wade Johnson deposited a shot inside the box with his left foot that beat Great Danes goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki.

The Great Danes responded almost immediately in the 30th minute, as Great Danes top scorer Ander Castillo drew UAlbany level with a right footed shot just outside the 6-yard box.

The rest of the first half saw both teams attempt to get chances on net but to no avail. The Great Danes lead the shot totals 7-2 at halftime.

UAlbany dominated the early minutes of the second half as the Raiders failed to clear the ball out of their zone, but did not allow a shot as several Great Dane tries were stifled by the Raider backline.

The Great Danes won a penalty kick in the 55th minute as Colgate defender Liam Winograd handed the ball in the box. Fifth year midfielder Elias Ehlin converted the kick to put the Great Danes ahead 2-1.

UAlbany continued to pile on pressure as sophomore midfielder Ivar Orri Gissurarson almost put a header in the top right corner that went just above the crossbar.

Colgate attempted to even the score as a cross threateningly sent into the UAlbany box, however no Raiders touched it and it fell into the hand of Great Dane goalie Kodai Tzuzuki. The Raiders won a corner in the 73rd minute which was cleared by the UAlbany defense.

The Great Danes won their second Penalty kick of the game in the 85th minute as Forward Ander Castillo was taken down while rushing in on goal. Midfielder Timo Jansen sent the Raider Goalkeeper the wrong way to cap off a 3-1 Great Dane victory.
