In a press release Tuesday, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced that the New York State-run COVID-19 vaccination site will be relocating from the UAlbany campus to Crossgates mall.
Starting Friday, April 16, COVID-19 vaccinations will be distributed from a new location in the space that was previously occupied by Lord & Taylor.
Since opening in January, the vaccination site has occupied the Northwest Resident Student parking lot near Colonial Quad.
While the site has made a large impact by distributing approximately 2,000 vaccines a day, the State plans to increase their vaccination rate by three times that amount in their new location.
“SUNY Albany has been an invaluable partner for us as we work around the clock to get New Yorkers vaccinated as quickly as possible,” said Gov. Cuomo. “I remind Albany area residents that our fight with COVID is still far from over.”
Anyone with existing appointments to receive a COVID-19 vaccine will receive an email or text notification regarding the change in location. The state ensures that all existing dates and times for vaccination appointments will remain the same.
The state-run COVID-19 drive-thru testing facility will not be affected and will remain open and operating on the UAlbany campus.
