Leaves are changing, the air is getting cooler, pumpkin spice, football, and apple picking means fall is finally here. The jams of the summer are put away for darker, moodier vibes for fall. With the playlist Autumn Leaves Falling Down on Spotify, you can feel all the vibes for fall. Here are some of the top picks from the playlist.
Taylor Swift - “All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor's Version) (From The Vault)”
If you are one of the many million “Swifties,” you’ll know that Taylor Swift has a large amount of songs that give the ultimate autumn vibes. This song, “All Too Well,” is an extended version of a shorter song. It tells the story of Swift’s relationship with actor Jake Gyllenhal. She reminisces on their time spent together upstate in the fall. One of the lyrics is “Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place,” inspiring the title of the playlist.
The La’s - “There She Goes”
The reason this song is on the playlist is because it is the first song that plays on popular fall television show Gilmore Girls. It is often considered a fall show because the show has themes of friendship, family, romance, and coziness. These feelings are correlated a lot to the fall. Also, a lot of the time, the show skips the summer season and goes right into the beginning of the school year. If you want to pretend you are on your way to Luke’s Diner to get a cup of coffee on a chilly day in Stars Hollow, add this to your queue.
Jack Stauber - “Oh Klahoma”
Remember a couple years ago when the ghost photoshoot was trending on TikTok? Everyone posted their photos to this song on TikTok. People would drape white sheets over themselves and wear sunglasses and take photos in ominous or obscure places. It was a unique way to get creative in the fall. It’s a pleasant listen, but has a hint of creepy in the song.
Bon Iver, St. Vincent - “Roslyn”
Whether you like it or not, the Twilight saga is a favorite for many to binge during the fall. Many Twilight fans agree that the New Moon movie has the best soundtrack. This movie is where the main character, Bella, goes through a heartbreak. The soundtrack has plenty of moody and dark songs that fit the autumn vibe.
Fleetwood Mac - “Silver Springs”
This song has been trending on TikTok for the last month or so. Lead singer, Stevie Nicks, wrote this song about the end of her and bandmate Lindsey Buckingham’s relationship. Fleetwood Mac has tons of witchy and autumnal vibey songs. One line specifically from this song that makes this song fit for this playlist is “time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me.”
Nina Simone - “I Put A Spell On You”
Relating back to spells, this song is all about that. Featured in Halloween classic Hocus Pocus, this is the original song by Nina Simone. It has a deep moody track and is perfect for all of the Halloween vibes.
Michael Jackson - “Thriller”
A bit of a cheesier song for the playlist, but how can you not put Thriller in a fall themed playlist? Definitely meant to be played closer to Halloween, but you can jam to this song no matter the occasion this fall.
The Cramps - “Goo Goo Muck”
All of the fall vibes come from this song, especially since it was featured in the hit Netflix show Wednesday. Wednesday Addams, creepy Halloween icon, is the epitome of dark and moody. This song was played in the show at their school dance, where Wednesday showed up in a gorgeous dark dress. Perfect outfit for this fall (and potential Halloween costume?).
girl in red - “we fell in love in october”
For all of the romantics, this song is for you. Rather than focusing on the dark, eerie, and spooky vibes for the fall, this one will make you feel in love. The song talks about falling in love and loving fall, who doesn’t love love?
The Neighbourhood - “Sweater Weather”
How can you not put this song on a fall themed playlist? Especially when fall is the time that all of your sweaters come out from storage and into your closet. The song is also a song about exploring bisexuality, not just wearing cozy sweaters in the fall. Many people think the lyric “one love, two mouths” signifies that some people can love more than one gender.
Phantogram, Future Islands - “Black Out Days - Future Islands Remix”
This song is a remix of “Black Out Days,” and this one is much gloomier and dark. It is the perfect song to listen to when you are bundled up studying with a candle burning and leaving a light glow in your room.
For all the different emotions and moods you may be in this fall, this playlist will surely fit all of your wants and needs. Enjoy the changing of the seasons, friends.
