A new exercise facility opened on Colonial Quad at the University at Albany Uptown campus. The facility, the Well at Colonial, is a 26,000 square foot recreation and wellness center that took more than three years of construction.
The new facility has a number of new amenities for UAlbany undergraduate students, and will also be used to host campus recreation exercise classes to help students reach their fitness and wellness goals.
The facility holds a variety of spaces including a Cycling Studio, a Group Exercise Studio, a Functional Fitness Studio, Mind and Body Studio, Cardio Area and a Combative Mat Room. The Well will hold classes in yoga, pilates, cycling, dance, and group exercise.
The equipment is new and maintained by Campus Recreation. Undergraduate students have full access to The Well and all its group exercise classes by presenting their UAlbany ID.
Graduate students may also use the facility by purchasing a Recreation and Wellness membership, which grants access to the group exercise classes.
Additionally, most group exercise classes previously held in the fitness building will now take place at The Well, providing a modern space for these activities.
Students may also access personal training lessons.
Student organizations can also rent the Group Exercise Room, Mind & Body Room and Functional Fitness Studio for their events.
With its array of amenities and services, The Well at Colonial aims to be a central hub for fitness and wellness on campus. Students are encouraged to explore the new facility and take advantage of the opportunities it offers this semester.
