Jamil, a senior who has been involved in the Senate since her freshman year, said her resignation came as she took on a new job and also turned her focus to law school applications.

She did not attend any Senate meetings this semester prior to her resignation.

“I decided it was best to leave and focus on those things, but I’ll always support Senate even if I’m not directly in it, as it provided some of my best memories, skills, and experiences, not to mention I met amazing people through it,” she said in a statement to the ASP.

Regateiro similarly resigned due to outside activities that he said he needed to make more time for.

“I left because I have a lot of class work, I do independent research for the school, I’m applying to Semester in Washington and I’m on an eboard,” he told the ASP. “So leaving Senate frees up some time for me.”

Senator Bond did not respond to a request for comment.

Senator Selwa Khan was also removed from her position as Freedom Apartments Senator as she moved to Empire Commons, but said she plans on running in the special election.
