UAlbany is now the keeper of records from the former College of Saint Rose, following the transfer of student records on Feb. 12.

The transfer is a result of the College of Saint Rose’s closure last year, which raised the question of who would be in charge of former student records.

UAlbany and the College of Saint Rose came to an agreement in May 2024, ensuring the transfer of all academic records to the university. As the new holder, UAlbany will manage and provide access to documents such as transcripts, diplomas, degree and enrollment verification and course catalogs.

Saint Rose alumni and former students can access their records through the University at Albany by placing an order for official transcripts, replacement diplomas and degree/enrollment verification.

“We are grateful for the support University at Albany President Dr. Havidán Rodríguez, Provost Dr. Carol Kim and their colleagues have shown, and continue to show, Saint Rose students and alumni,” College of Saint Rose President Marcia White said last spring. “Throughout this past year, our work with UAlbany has centered on meeting the needs of the Saint Rose community, now and in the future, a testament to our shared commitment to our educational missions and the Capital Region.”

The agreement only strengthens the bond between UAlbany and the College of Saint Rose, as UAlbany stepped up to work with and help address the aftereffects of the College of Saint Rose’s closure. As its first partner to sign a teach-out agreement, UAlbany provided opportunities for students affected by the closure to complete their degrees.

In addition, UAlbany has continued and expanded some of Saint Rose’s academic programs, including in fields such as nursing and education.

The preservation of these records signifies more than just an administrative shift; it preserves the history and legacy of Saint Rose.

“The College of Saint Rose had a long and distinguished history in the Capital Region, and we were saddened by the loss of a valued and trusted partner in higher education,” Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Michael Christakis said this past February. “UAlbany is committed to preserving Saint Rose’s academic legacy and continuing its efforts to support critical programs that recognize the need for trained professionals in nursing education and more.”
