“We have expanded the hours until 3 a.m.,” said UAlbany News and Communications Senior Managing Editor Margaret Hartley. “Last year the libraries were open until 11:00 pm.”

The library staff did not comment on why the change in hours is occurring.

All three UAlbany libraries offer a multitude of services other than just providing a place to study. The Science Library has also introduced a “Stress Less” series of programs, including puzzle tables, therapy dogs, candy, coloring, and more to assist in easing students’ exam strain.

“The libraries contain a wealth of resources in books, journals, databases, group study rooms, and general study spaces,” Hartley said. “Our librarians and staff are available to assist students with their research needs. Chat reference is available through the website 24/7.”

The main University Library is open 7:45 a.m. to 3 a.m., the Science Library is open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and the Dewey Graduate Library from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m on Dec. 5 to Dec. 14. For more specific hours and details on all three libraries as well as the Special Collections and Reference Desk, visit the University Libraries website.
